A new Associated Student Body president has been elected, but will not be inaugurated until April.  So, in the meantime, Taylor McGraw is relaxing and looking back on his year as president.

McGraw, a public policy leadership major from Oxford, was elected on February 15, 2011, and went into office with high expectations.

“I most looked forward to being that person that people could go to and count on,” McGraw said.ASB Vice President Abby Olivier supported McGraw from the start.

“He ran for president because he wanted to be the students’ friend,” Olivier said.

During his term, McGraw along with his cabinet carefully passed the Green Fund, and provided Scantrons for tests free of charge for students.

“Everything he said he wanted to do when he was running this time last year he did, if not all of it, most of it,” Olivier said.

But more importantly to McGraw, his position helped him grow on a personal level.

“I learned a lot about leadership in general and what it takes to be an effective leader,” McGraw said. “Hopefully down the road I’ll look back and realize how impactful this was.”

McGraw will be succeeded ASB President-elect Kim Dandridge, the first female African American elected to ASB President. Dandridge will be inaugurated in April.
