Hospitality Managment Fundraiser on the Square

The Ole Miss Hospitality Management Department is hoping to raise money and spirits with its upcoming food and wine tasting fundraiser: Square Toast for Scholarships.

On October 19, from 5:00-9:00 p.m., Oxford restaurants like City Grocery, Boure and Downtown Grille will host gourmet food and wine stations as participants eat, drink and browse the Square for charity.

It’s kind of like trick or treat; you just go from place to place,” said faculty advisor Candice Varnell.

Tickets for the event are $50, and can be purchased outside the Ole Miss Union, October 12-16. Tickets will also be available for $60 at the courthouse registration tent on the day of the event.

All contributions to the Hospitality Management student scholarships are tax deductible.

Last year’s toast raised nearly $15,000, but student organizers are hoping for even bigger numbers and greater awareness this year.

“We really want to make students aware of the hospitality management program here. We want the public to know that it is fantastic,” said student steering committee head Kaitlin Crabtree.
